Taking the time to focus on your business and how you want it to grow cannot be underestimated. Getting away for a couple of days will give you the opportunity to consider if your business is heading in the direction you want it to.
During this time out, you should look at what your core product is, who you are targeting, how your market has changed or grown, what environmental factors have impacted on your business, and if your product or marketing is working or still relevant. Taking the time to plan your year helps to keep you focused. Set goals, make lists that can be crossed off, and prepare for change. No marketing plan should be set in concrete!
Our favourite work retreat is The Old Vicarage B&B at Mt Somers — a stone’s throw away from Christchurch, idyllic and comes with great breakfasts. We take the time at least twice a year to plan and review large projects, identify how our business has changed, and focus on marketing our own business. Setting up the laptops under the walnut tree with a cup of coffee and a view of the mountains is an incredibly constructive way to do business!
Find your own special retreat, and make the time to nurture your business.
